Inspiration Is Everywhere

Have you ever been inspired by your own work?

I find inspiration in many places, scrapbook galleries, YouTube, pinterest, Facebook groups, magazines, not to mention my boys, a piece of patterned paper, colors of the plastic bowls in my cupboard..... Never have I been inspired by my own work. But today it happened. I had a bunch of left over strips of paper from the last layout I posted sitting on my craft table. I kept looking at them and thinking I want to make another layout with those strips and I want to sew them down too. I started laying them down on some cardstock and it just came together.

This wasn't the first pic I chose for this layout but it fit much better. The flow of the paper moves your eye right into the flow of the hiking path. The strips were much wider when I started too but I trimmed them down and felt if worked better for my busy photo.

I used 2 different kits form Scraptastic Club for this layout. The strips of paper are from the June Sail kit and the embellishments are from the May Daylight kit.

I really enjoyed the process of this layout. I just let it work itself out and enjoyed going with it.

It All Started Here

Wow! It's been awhile huh. Summer is so busy for us. Trying to keep my boys busy and out of trouble is a full time job. I have made a few layouts though and wanted to share some.

This is a layout about my sister and my first boy Gus. When Gus was 3 months old, we went on our annual camping trip to the Garlic Festival in Ocean Park Washington with my family. My sister brought a ton of photos and she was rounding all the corners of them trying to get ready for an upcoming scrapbook weekend. I piped up and said "See!! That's what I need to do. Take a whole weekend and make a baby album for Gus." which made Lisa say "Well, why don't you come with me?" and the rest is history.

I have been wanting to scrapbook this photo for a long time now and the Sail kit form Scraptastic Club was perfect for it. I used a sketch form Studio Calico that really show cases my photo.

I really had fun with this layout. Remembering how I started scrapbooking and how much I love this craft.
Thanx for stopping by and enjoy your scraps!!!

I Won I Won!!

Yippie!! I won a Two Peas giveaway on Instagram!! A bunch of wood veneers and flair that are so great for winter pages!!! How Fun!!

This March It's My Life Scraptastic Club kit is so gorgeous!!! I just love this October Afternoon Click paper. it was my fav and I wanted to allow the writing on it to be seen. I have been using this design a lot lately and just feel like it works for me so why change :) I cut a strip of the My Mind's Eye Celebrate paper to use as the back ground of my photo. I just love how it matched the washi tape in the pic!!

This ended up being a very simple layout that took no time at all. My layouts usually take over an hour so it was fun to move right along with this one.

Me @ 40

Here's a fun layout to share. I made it awhile back when I went to my sisters for a scrap weekend. I have always wanted to try stitching on a layout so I got brave and went for it.

I had just picked up the Maggie Holmes paper pack and the Heidi Swapp Sunburst Stencil at Michael's right before I left to go to Lisa's and had this layout in mind then. I really had fun stitching the paper and knew this pic would go perfect. I never do girly layouts cuz I have 2 boys so this was fun. I used embellishments from my stash. There's some Amy Tangerine die cuts and a My Minds Eye banner sticker.

Some cut aparts and sequins form Scraptastic Club

A Flair For Buttons flair badge

I really had fun with this layout and really want to do more stitching on my layouts. I have my grandma's old sewing machine and it's huge and heavy so it's not real convenient to get out for a tiny bit of stitching on a layout. I really want one of those mini sewing machines but just can't justify buying one when mine works fine.

Look What I Found!!

Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog's Tails

That's what my boy's are made of and I love it!! Gus and Colton love the creepy crawly's and I have to say I don't mind them either. Just can't handle spiders but the salamanders and worms and snakes.. Bring them on!!! These pictures were taken a month apart but these boys love bringing me their finds to show off so of course I had to take a pic.

I used the March It's My Life kit mostly and a bit of the February Mr. Big Stuff kit from Scraptastic Club. These 2 kits go great together. I started with the Bazzill Raspberry Splash card stock as my base for this layout. I just love the Bella Blvd Family Photo paper and wanted to use a lot of it on this page so I cut a 5 1/2 x 11 1/2 to fit on the right half of the page. I used the Bazzill Adventure Arrows for the paper behind my photos and the navy chevrons pointing to the photos. Just love the Echo Park That's My Boy You Rock sheet of cut outs. It really said what I wanted for these photo's.

Here's the top 2 cluster of embellishments. I used the October Afternoon Snapshots Snap Caps and the October Afternoon To The Point Chipboard Arrows. The stars are from the March add-on as well as the daily die cut. So cute and fun!

Here's the title. How great are these October Afternoon Stop Light Alphas?!?!?! Love the cursive font. That flair is an exclusive design of Kaitlin Scheaffer and I love it.

Hope you enjoyed this one and hope you all enjoy your scraps!!!

Serious Boy

Finally!! I finally jumped into my March Scraptastic Club kit. I have been busy with life and haven't had a lot of time to scrap. I know! Sad right?!?!?

I love the sketch for the Sketchy Thursday this month. I stuck to it pretty closely.

I have been dying to scrap this photo of Colton and loved the My Minds' Eye Shimmer paper and the Bazzill Adventure Arrows paper. I thought it went well with the black and white photo. I also used some of the October Afternoon Develop paper from the February kit. The pop of red just adds the right tough I think.

Thanks for visiting my blog and enjoy your scraps!!!

Game Boys

I am rolling out the layouts with this February Mr. Big Stuff kit from Scraptastic Club. This is I think my 4th one and I still have tons of stuff left. I did get the main kit and add on which is always more than enough fun stuff to play with. My March kit just got here yesterday but I am having so much fun with this one I haven't opened it yet :)

It's Challenge Thursday over on the Scraptastic Club Blog today and I was already itchin to scrap so I took the challenge and ran. It's a fun tic tac toe challenge and I chose Wood Veneers, 2 Flair Buttons, and At Least 1 Die Cut. This was an easy one for me since these kits are full of all those items and so well coordinated.

I used the Sydney Card stock by Bazzill for my background. I'm really liking this design lately too. I put a strip of the Echo Park That's My Boy You Rock paper across the top of the page and layered my photo and more paper on it. I used the Numbers paper by Echo Park as well as some stickers for their elements sticker sheet. Jessica has combined some great product here. The October Afternoon All Boy Daily Flash paper and Simple Stories Daily Grind Ephemera and Chipboard Stickers match perfectly.

Bottom cluster here. Ormolu makes the most fabulous flair and cut aparts for Scraptastic Club.

Wish me luck in this challenge. Thanx for stopping by and enjoy your scraps!!!

Surprise Snow Day

Been working with my February Scraptastic Club kit and loving it. (I know I always say that) This kit was made for me I think. It's called Mr. Big Stuff and is full of boy stuff. Perfect for the pics of my boys.

This isn't the first layout I've done with this kit but I wanted to get it up on the blog because I used the sketch from the March Sketch Challenge over at Life Paper Scrapbook. and I want to link it up to their blog asap.

I am so enjoying sketches lately. I find it's a great starting point for me. I have a tendency to sit there for awhile trying to figure out which direction I wanna go and a sketch really jump starts it for me.

Like I said above, this kit was made for me. The October Afternoon Daily Flash All Boy Cooties paper matched Colton's jacket so well I knew I had to use it. I wasn't planning on it but it ended up being sort of a monochromatic layout. Love that teal color.

I really enjoyed all the layering. I'm kinda struggling with my layering lately. I feel like it's taking the focus off my photos but this sketch had the layers just popping out slightly and I love it!

Top cluster. Love how Jessica matches different lines for these kits and they always go so good together!!

Winter Beach Trip

This is my last layout with my November Scraptastic Club kit as of yet.
I've been working with my February kit so the scraps of this kit have been filed away for now. I just got notice that my March kit is on it's way so I'll be posting my layouts from my February kit soon.

I went up to my sisters to scrapbook for a couple days and here is one of the layouts I made. It's a picture of us at the beach during winter break. It was so cold there and even a fire didn't warm me up. The boy's were having so much fun digging in the sand and I didn't have the heart to make them leave.

I used a piece of white card stock for the back ground and layered different patterned paper on it for a base for my photo. The paper in this kit are so bold and vibrant. Very fun to play with.  I stamped some blotches under the paper for some interest with the Stampin Up Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and the Real Red ink pad.

I tucked some lables here and there for fun. Love the enamel hexagons so I put a few here and there.

I used both alphas that came in the kit and did my journaling right under the title. I love this photo so much and really wanted it to speak for itself.

Thanx for stopping by and enjoy your scraps!!!

Can't get enough of this kit!!!!

I am having such a fun time with my November Scraptastic Club kit. The products in it aren't colors I would normally pick but that's the very reason I LOVE getting kits. At 40 years old, I rarely step outside my box so this has been so much fun challenging myself.

This layout is of me and my oldest boy Gus doing a selphy

The combination of Glitz Design and Echo Park paper is amazing. I'm loving the teal ombre. I layered the Floral, Multi Triangle, and Drip papers from Glitz Design for the base for my photo. Their Finnley Sticker Elements and What Nots were so fun to embellish with.

I used some wood veneers and the Prima Sugar dots for added fun and stamped a bit onthe background.

Here is a close up of the cluster in the top corner.

Kit's are my favorite way to scrap these days. I have more layouts to share from this kit and February's kit is on my craft table calling my name as I type.

Thanx for stopping by and enjoy your scraps!!!

I'm giving it a go!!

Pocketed Scrapbooking

A while back I had an opportunity to do some Project Life pages for Craft Warehouse as store displays. At the time I was not at all interested in the whole PL thing, because I thought of myself as a 12 x 12 girl only. After making 30 or so pages, I was pleasantly surprised to find I actually liked it. I enjoyed embellishing on a smaller canvas. I really enjoyed all the tiny wood veneers and stamps and dies I got to use. I also found myself scrapping more of my family's daily life instead of just the big moments.
After I was done with the store samples, I found myself looking at my pictures and wanting to put them in a pocketed layout but still wanted some of them in a 12 x 12 format too. I decided to integrate the two of them and have an album of all different pages. So I went down to Craft Warehouse and purchased a box of PL page protectors. The result has been a fun learning experience.

This isn't the first spread I've made but it's the more recent. It came about after completing my Like Father Like Son layout that I posted just before this one. I had a bunch of photos from a trip we took this fall to a friends wedding in eastern Oregon at Camp Morrow on Pine Hollow lake and wanted to scrap them all. I used the October This Life Noted kit for the pocketed pages and the November Colorblind kit for the 12 x 12 pages from Scraptastic Club.

Here is page 1 & 2. You've already seen page 1. I love the freedom of putting these pages together however I want.

Close up of page 2

Here is page 3 & 4.

Close up of page 3. That wood card in the middle left is so cute!! I had so many thoughts of what I wanted to do with it and settled on a simple phrase so it would stand out on it's own.

Here is page 4. Love this one of my boys!!!

Here is the last page and I plan to adhere the cards and photos on the back of the Snips and Snails layout in this format.

I think I'm hooked. Pocketed pages will be making an appearance in my albums from now on. I have gravitated towards 1 or 2 photos on my 12 x 12 pages these days and with adding pocketed pages, I can add more and more photos to further tell the story. If you haven't tried them yet give it a go!! The possibilities are truly endless.

Like Father Like Son

Finally got back to scrapping!!!

I made a deal with myself at the end of November that I couldn't scrap anything until all my Christmas gifts were made. So I put all my scrapbook stuff away and turned my craft table into my knitting station as well as my sewing table. Once my gifts were made, I put away my craft table since it's in the middle of my front room and decorated for Christmas. BUT NOW that all the hub-ub is over, the craft table is back up and in full swing!!

I got my November Colorblind kit from Scraptastic Club out and started right in. I just love this picture of Chris and Gus fishing and knew I wanted it in a 5 x 7 size and have it be the only pic on the page.

This kit is so bright and cheery with lots of embellishments and I had a blast adding them to the layout. I got the add on as well so I had lots to choose form.

Love these Amy Tangerine Thickers!!

Love clustering embellishments!! I always feel like I could add more but make myself stop at a certain point.

How stinking cute is that owl wood veneer?!?!!? Just love all the goodies in the Scraptastic Club kits. Jessica makes them all so fun and inspiring to play with.

Thanx for stopping by and hope you all have a great 2014!!!
