New Do'ed

I finally did a layout for a challenge. My craft crush, Mercy Tiara aka Tracy Banks from Scraptastic Kit Club posted a challenge on the Scraptastic Kit Club blog on July 4th and I was dying to try it out. She challenged us to use Journalling strips on a layout. I did a layout about my son Gus' new haircut. I used the chalk board tape from Fancy Pants for my journalling along with a chalk pen.

The paper is from a Fancy Pants paper pad I got at the Craft Warehouse Tent Sale recently. I am in love with the Fancy Pants cork shapes lately.

Here's a close up of the journalling strips. I cut them in a couple different ways to add interest.

Here's a shot of the title and journalling.

Little detail in the bottom corner. I stamped the date and added an arrow and enamel dot. Love those little boogers!!

I am a huge fan of Mercy Tiara on youtube and have learned so much from watching her videos. She has posted challenges before but this is the first one I've tried. Wish me luck!! I might win a $20 gift card to Scraptastic!!!!

Thanx for stopping by!

Mini Book

Can you believe I made another birthday gift with my Heidi Swapp stuff?!?!!!! I went to Eugene to scrapbook with my dear friend Kelly and we went to Michael's first thing. I have been wanting Heidi Swapp's No Limits paper pad and my Michael's has never gotten it in. So that was the first thing I put into my cart, along with one of her stencils which I'll share in another post :)

I made this book for my besties daughter Averi for her birthday. She loves taking pictures with her ipod and is planning on getting a fancy camera soon so I thought I'd make her a scrapbook to keep all her memories in.

It was so much fun to make OMG!!! I used a Studio Calico journal and added a bunch of paper from Heidi Swapp's No Limits and Sugar Chic lines. I sprayed the front and back with Heidi's Teal Colorshine and it looks so pretty. The chipboard soaked up the Colorshine great but the glitter in it just sat on top and came off on my fingers every time I handled it. I ended up spraying a thin coat of enamel gloss over it and it worked perfectly.

When I punched holes with my Cinch, the guide moved after I punched the cover so all the paper was punched in a different spot. So I cut a strip of chip board and covered it with washi tape then mod podged it. Then I glued it over the holes and re punched them. I had to use the big bite cuz with the chip board glued on, it wouldn't fit in the Cinch.

I used one of Heidi's Mini File's as a template to make this first page. I like how it over hangs off the edge.

I stamped a few pages here and there and added some tabs for interest.

Here's a close up of the tabs and flags that over hang the edge. Fun!!!

Here's a look at the back cover. I made a small pocket and wrote my sentiment on a chip board tag I covered with paper.

What a fun project!!  I can't wait to see what Averi does with this book.
